The new main library is situated in the Tiedonpuisto (Knowledge Park) education centre. Based on the design by Hannu Tikka the building was completed in 1999 and it won the National Concrete Building of the Year award. Get to know the building and study its colour strategy inside and out. The changing colours and building materials give the different parts of the building the appearance of being independent units as well as joining the building in harmony with its surroundings. Martinsali Auditorium, which adjoins the library, is one of the area’s most prestigious meeting and conference halls. The Auditorium seats 250 people and has the latest state of the art audio/video equipment.
